Suburban Cabin

Pasadena, California
"Our homeowner wanted a cabin in the woods. He found the perfect property at the end of a naturally occurring canyon with (2) natural springs. Over-run with invasive trees and shrubs, we restored it as a wildlife oasis. At its center, the springs flow over waterfalls that tumble into the pond, formerly an unused tennis court." Description

Over 20-acres just North of the Rose Bowl, this property lays adjacent to habitat that connects to the Angeles National Forest. Deer, bobcats, and even a bear and its cub have stayed for a bit before moving on. The key to restoration was the removal of most invasive non-native trees and shrubs and replacing them with drifts of meadow grasses.
